Alsco Inc., the premier linen and uniform rental services company, has made a contribution to the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma, funds that will provide age-specific medical expertise and equipment for healthcare professionals, first responders and clinicians in smaller, rural hospitals.
Life-threatening injury is the No. 1 killer of children of all ages in the United States.* Nearly 10,000 children lose their lives every year from serious injuries, and many more are treated in the emergency room. Survival is increased 25 percent when children are treated at a pediatric trauma center because it has a full range of specialists and equipment available 24 hours a day/7 days per week.
About the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma: When legendary NASCAR team owner Richard Childress and his wife Judy found out that traumatic injury was responsible for the death of more children in the U.S. than all other causes combined, they knew they had to do something about it. As a result, the Childress Institute was founded at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in 2008 through a generous gift from Richard and Judy Childress. The Childress Institute funds research, education and advocacy to help improve the care and treatment that injured kids receive across the U.S. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.saveinjuredkids.org.
